Is it possible for one single area to have rains 24/7? You better believe it is! And the place where this happens is also one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.
Victoria Falls rain forest is the only place on earth that experiences a consistent rainfall all the time. Whilst this is not the conventional type of rain that one would expect, the mist rising from the power of the falls causes a soft and steady pelting of water. The relentless spray from the Falls means that the Rain Forest at Victoria Falls is the only place on earth that experiences rain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The rain forest is a dense woodland that has a richly diverse plant community. Although described and referred to as a rain forest, it is not the correct ecological term. It is, in fact, an extension of the river bank. From the heights that we were at – we felt a very far way away from the river bank and would not like to have taken the journey down to the bottom!
Natural Wonder of the World
Victoria Falls waterfall also happens to be one of the 7 (mind-blowing) natural wonders of the world. We got to experience the wonder of this magnificent place – all under the persistent shower from the falls!
Also known as “Mosi oa-Tunya” (the smoke that thunders), Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world. This is calculated based on the combined height and width of the falls. These measurements are 108 m and 1.7 km respectively. As a result, the Falls are the biggest curtain of falling water on earth.
Zimbabwe as a country
Our recent trip to Zimbabwe truly was spectacular. The places that we visited, people that we met and the sights that we saw were out of this world. We went on an awesome Groove Cruise, visited the Kariba Dam Wall, and nearly drowned in the Zambezi. Visiting Victoria Falls and seeing the wonder of the incredible waterfall was just the cherry on the top.
