Gul Wetsuit Sizing Tips
Each brand boasts its own wetsuit sizing and fit. As wetsuits are a piece of technical apparel, it’s important that the fit is snug without being claustrophobic. If a wetsuit doesn’t fit properly, then it can impact performance.
For example,
- A loose wetsuit allows cold water to enter the suit and you’ll struggle to stay warm
- A tight wetsuit can cause a rash and limit mobility
When investing in a Gul wetsuit, consider the following guidelines when measuring the perfect size for your next surfing outing.
- Height – bottom of your foot to the top of your head
- Chest – under the arms all the way around the body at the fullest part of your chest
- Waist – measure around the waistline
- Hips – measure around the widest part of the hips

The History of the Gul Wetsuit
Gul has been leading the charge with technical development in watersports for 50 years. Having used a Gul wetsuit for the better part of my surfing career, I can vouch for their quality and comfort. Their trendy style and design just happen to be the cherry on the top!
The brand kicked off in 1967 and has pledged to make the best product possible. Originally developed by Dennis Cross, the pioneer allegedly made the first Gul wetsuit at the back of his split screen camper in Newquay, Cornwall. While it may have been a humble beginning, it has grown to an expansive success.

You may have noticed that the Gul brand has developed to include surfboards, watches, luggage, clothing, stationery, and more. Even so, their quality wetsuits remain timeless.
Gul’s Promise to Surfers
As a brand, Gul is committed to using top-quality neoprene and fabric innovations to create a well-fitted wetsuit. All materials are assembled according to Gul’s specifications which prioritizes warmth, strength, flexibility, and durability.
The thickness of the neoprene will determine the warmth and flexibility of the wetsuit. The thicker the wetsuit, the more insulation, and warmth, but the less flexibility. While thin wetsuits offer more flexibility, but less warmth.
Gul Has You Covered (Literally)
Gul wetsuits give you the opportunity to spend long, joyful hours in the water without freezing your butts off – but they need to fit well. Hopefully, this guide has helped in a small way, and led you to your perfect Gul wetsuit!
